A Note from the Author
I thoroughly love the art of writing.
My passion for writing has extended to writing short stories, novella, essays, and children’s adventure tales. Each piece of prose has stimulated me in its own special way perfect for the time in my life that it arrived.
While, most of my work lies buried on backup drives in dark drawers, a few of my creative endeavours have emerged into the sunshine.

The Day My Father Danced Again was published by the absolutely delightful Debra Bibi from Box Press. This was the winner of the APA Scholastic Award for the best designed illustrated children’s book. This award was thanks to Debra’s prowess and credit to the highly capable Alison Kubbos whose litho print illustrations were amazing.
It was great fun channelling this story which was inspired by my work with the Naroo Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Dance Group. I had an inspiring lunch with Sean Choolburra and later that evening, I had a dream where this story manifested. In the morning, I wrote it down and it went to print with very little other interventions. No other writing project has been this easy.
In 1997, I was commissioned by the Darling Harbour Authority to write a story for the Water Screen Production in the lead up to Sydney Olympics.
After a bottle of red on Friday evening, I just wrote through the night. On the Monday morning, I delivered the story to the Darling Harbour Authority who took on the script to become their aqua film “Reef Dreaming”, which screened for a year as a massive multi-story water projection on Cockle Bay.

Two other children’s books, The Magic Rockpool and The Sleepless King were published in 1999. The Sleepless King was illustrated by Hannah Fraser, the gifted artist and real-life mermaid.
Then, I became more of a householder and focussed my efforts on the rewarding journey of raising a family. I germinated a business idea and pursued a corporate career to fund these beautiful and busy years. My writing talents were relegated to commercial projects. Only when time permitted, could I take the occasional foray into my creative writing passion.
In 2017, I undertook a project to re-work a film script I wrote fourteen years ago with the inspiring photographer Andrei Jewell. Andrei’s footage and his Holiwater Project were the inspiration for the original script. This has now evolved into my new book, Searching For Monkumar, which I hope you enjoy.
